What is Modeo?

Modeo is digital television broadcast live to the one device you're never without—your mobile phone. Modeo is transparently high-tech, making mobile TV as familiar as the coffee table clicker. All you have to do is watch.

The Modeo innovative handset is designed around the high performance DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld) standard, the Microsoft® Windows Mobile® 5.0 platform and Microsoft Windows Media platform to supply mobile users with a feature-packed mobile entertainment and productivity solution.

Development of the new DVB-H handset marks the latest stage in the evolution of Modeo's mobile television service, building on proven capabilities of the company's world class mobile broadcast operations center in Pittsburgh and its nationwide satellite distribution capabilities. The handset incorporates features and functionalities identified and honed through Modeo's ongoing consumer pilot testing.

Manufactured to Modeo's mobile TV specifications by HTC, this consumer-ready mobile phone provides industry-leading entertainment services and productivity features all in one sleek and alluring form factor. From one-touch connection to live digital TV and music services, to accessing home or office emails, calendar and contact information, the new Modeo handset is designed to deliver a new standard of personal entertainment and productivity that is without concession.

While the new handset is designed to provide an unmatched TV, digital music and Windows applications experience, Modeo and HTC also included the telephone features and benefits that consumers expect from a traditional handset. The handset utilizes quad-band GSM services (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) to provide international communications capabilities. The handset is expected to support GPRS/EDGE services, enabling high speed data access and file downloads.

The new Modeo DVB-H integrated smartphone is expected to be available during the second half of 2006. You can learn more about Modeo here.
