An Opportunity is Knocking .....

Every once in a while you get an opportunity "knocking at your door" and this is one of those times.

When I got my first Pocket PC, the very first program I purchased was RESCO Explorer, the second program I purchased was TextMaker.  I have never had a pocket PC without both these programs installed since that time.

Why?  Because productivity was the name of the game and these two programs provided me with the opportunity to maintain my personal productivity at a very high level.

For those of you that have NOT tried SoftMaker Office, it is a wordprocessor and spreadsheet combination that once you try it, you will ALWAYS use it.  It is just absolutely incredible to see and use such a powerful and easy to use program.  No more will you ever be concerned about how your work will "interface" with Microsoft Office.  It just does and does so flawlessly.

I encourage you to "open the door" of opportunity and try out the public beta of SoftMaker Office 2006.  I am convinced that after you try it, you will add this powerful program to your cadre of "must have" programs.

SoftMaker Office 2006 for Pocket PCs is now in public beta testing!

You can download the beta for free from the SoftMaker web site:

http://www.softmaker.com/english/ofp_en.htm

SoftMaker Office contains our two desktop-class office applications for Pocket PCs in one package:

- Word processor: TextMaker 2006 for Pocket PCs

- Spreadsheet: PlanMaker 2006 for Pocket PCs

With SoftMaker Office, you can work on important Microsoft Word and Excel documents and be certain that all formatting and content will be preserved. No other mobile office suite offers this.

NOTE: If you already use the beta of TextMaker for Pocket PCs and just want to extend it until October 31, 2006, you can also download the TextMaker-only beta here:

http://www.softmaker.net/down/tmpw06beta.exe

(You need your TextMaker beta serial number for this, and it won't let you try out PlanMaker. So, better get the complete SoftMaker Office beta...)

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars

Truly, one of the most incredible games I have ever engaged.  This is one RPG that you just won't put down. To celebrate the Broken Sword 1996 release, Astraware has a SPECIAL OFFER you don't want to miss!

Astraware and Revolution Software are excited to announce a special Broken Sword promotion to celebrate 10 years since the release of the original Broken Sword.

When the game was originally released on 30th September 1996, no-one could have forseen that the game would still be receiving rave reviews a full decade later. Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars has been released on several platforms including PC, PlayStation®, GameBoy Advance®, and most recently for Palm OS® and Windows Mobile®. Broken Sword is now an award-winning franchise with three sequels. The most recent, Broken Sword 4: The Angel of Death, has just been released and is currently number 1 in the charts.

"We always dreamed of writing the game on a device that would reach beyond hardcore gamers; with the emphasis on intelligent, cerebral gameplay, rather than the requirement for manual dexterity, the game was always intended to have a broad appeal. Writing the game on Palm OS® and Windows Mobile® platforms has finally allowed us to achieve this goal", said Charles Cecil, Managing Director and co-founder of Revolution Software.

"We are really proud of how the game has turned out on Palm OS® and Windows Mobile®", said Tony Warriner, co-founder of Revolution Software, "The PC version was praised for its beauty and subtlety, and this has translated perfectly".

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the release of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars, Astraware is making the game available at a very special discount price. From Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October 2006 only, the game is available with an Anniversary-only discount.

Thank you Engadget!

Last night, the Engadget folks were in Boston and had a get together for their readers at Jillian's restaurant.  Peter Rojas and his folks did a great job welcoming, providing T-shirts, some nice munchies and had a raffle of some GREAT give aways!

Prior to the event, I met up with James Kendrick, Chris Leckness, Steven Hughes, Arne Hess, and Don Sorcinelli for dinner at Boston Beer Works (I don't reccomend the fish&chips but they had great onion rings and terrific beer).

(L-R James Kendrick, Arne Hess, Steve Hughes, Don Sorcinelli, Jack Cook -- Chris Leckness was the photographer)

There was quite a crowd of folks there...I'd guess well over 600.  There were a few vendors there showing off some "goodies" that looked pretty cool.  Hopefully we will have one of the neat things we saw for a review...it was very cool!

(L-R Peter's fiancee, Peter Rojas, Jack Cook)

A special THANKS to Peter Rojas for thinking enough about his readers to host an event to say say hello while he was in Boston.  It was a great time!

FREE Tools - easily search, browse and access information and content

UpSNAP launches a suite of Mobile applications powered by pay-per-call that make searching for mobile content easier. The new WAP and J2ME application offers free 411 and 600 other content and information channels ranging from Hip-Hop to religion.

UpSNAP, Inc. launched a comprehensive suite of applications for mobile search, information and entertainment, powered by pay-per-call mobile advertising.  The mobile search platform allows consumers to easily search, browse and access information and content via their phone using WAP, text messaging or a software application downloaded onto the mobile handset.

The UpSNAP search engine provides access to content from over 600 radio channels and offers a host of mobile information and search services. Consumers can choose from free services and individual audio programs, or premium services and content packages. No credit card is required to purchase premium services, as customers are billed directly via their cellular phone bills.

The applications themselves are free to consumers, though carrier related charges may be incurred depending on the user’s wireless plan. UpSNAP derives revenues from pay-per-call advertising that is built into the information services. When a consumer searches for a particular service or merchant and calls them using the data services, the merchant pays UpSNAP for the customer referral.

When using competitors’ offerings, consumers either have to download multiple applications and pay subscription fees for each service or are charged by the carrier for directory services such as 411. Now consumers have everything in one convenient, free application and can simply choose the search platform of their choice depending on their handset type.

Current services include:
Free 411, Hip-Hop Radio, Religious channels, Audio Horoscopes, News & Talk, Sports, Weather, Stock Quotes and Podcasts, amongst over 600 channels.

UpSNAP CEO Tony Philipp states, "Mobile search is not about putting browser technology on a cell-phone. It’s about allowing the consumer to search, access and enjoy a rich variety of mobile content and services in a snap. This new application makes finding and enjoying mobile content very easy for everyone."

Podcast Ready Releases myPodder 1.6 with iPod Support

Podcast Ready(TM) (http://www.podcastready.com), creator of the first truly portable podcast management software, has announced the release of myPodder(TM) version 1.6 beta. This latest release includes support for Apple(R) iPod(R) models, as well as all other universal mass storage-compliant MP3 players, bringing portable podcast subscription management to the broadest possible audience of podcast listeners and viewers. myPodder is available for free download at http://www.podcastready.com/download.php for Windows, Apple and U3.

Podcast Ready's myPodder software provides complete podcast portability, unlike other podcast-enabling technologies that are available only on dedicated desktop computers. Users can plug a compatible device into any Internet-connected computer and instantly access myPodder to update, subscribe to and manage their favorite audio and video podcasts. Podcast Ready also provides a simple-to-use podcast directory and one-click podcast subscription. The myPodder software is available in English and German.

"With this latest release of myPodder, Podcast Ready takes another step forward in support of our mission to make subscribing to and enjoying podcasts simple," said Russell Holliman, founder and CEO of Podcast Ready. "By extending myPodder support to iPods and more devices, Podcast Ready continues to address a key challenge facing the podcasting community, bringing simple and useful podcast management to the broadest audience of listeners and viewers."

Making Podcasting Portable, Easy and Personal

Complete portability and ease of use are essential as podcasting moves from technology-savvy early adopters to a wider consumer audience. Existing podcast services only allow users to manage subscriptions on their computer desktops, tethering subscribers to one computer, and prohibiting the user from updating subscriptions when traveling, at work or via secondary personal computers. Podcast Ready's software and services enhance the experience for podcast listeners by enabling them to:

-- Use myPodder with any Internet-enabled computer running either Windows or OSX

-- Manage subscriptions and downloaded podcasts within myPodder or from the website

-- Search, select and share both audio and video podcasts easily through the http://www.podcastready.com directory

-- Receive subscriptions on the fly with patent-pending one-click synchronization to device - without installing any software, users are able to subscribe to any podcast from any web page with a single click

Building on his interests in RSS feed technology and podcasting, Russell Holliman founded Podcast Ready in late 2005. Holliman was among the earliest to recognize the potential of podcasting and has focused on developing new software and services needed to take podcasting to true mass adoption.

Next Generation Slingbox Family Delivers Enhanced Performance, Price and Style

Sling Media, Inc., a digital lifestyle consumer electronics company, today announced the nationwide availability of three new Slingbox(TM) models that significantly increase performance, provide the customer with choice depending on their home TV setup and start at as low as $179.99.

The new Slingbox family is designed to meet the varied requirements of today's TV households whether that's basic analog cable, standard definition cable or satellite or next generation high definition television. The Slingbox PRO, Slingbox AV, and Slingbox TUNER transform PCs, laptops and Windows-based mobile phones and handheld computers into personal portable TVs. Slingbox owners can now watch and control their home cable, satellite or digital video recorder anywhere they can access the Internet, from their back yard to Beijing and everywhere in between. All three products are available to U.S. customers only starting today. More information can be found at http://www.slingmedia.com.

Sling Media has enhanced performance, increased the feature set and segmented the new Slingbox models for specific customer needs, adding new hardware and software features specific to each market segment. With an entry price of $179.99, Sling Media is giving customers more power, functionality and choice for their money. The Slingbox AV and Slingbox TUNER will carry an MSRP of $179.99 and the Slingbox PRO will retail for $249.99 MSRP. Sling Media will also make an optional HD component accessory called HD Connect available for the Slingbox PRO later this fall, which will carry an MSRP of $49.99.

"Just over a year ago, Sling Media delivered to consumers a ground breaking product that has now been incorporated into their daily lives," said Blake Krikorian, co-founder and CEO of Sling Media. "With our new products, we are setting an even higher standard by incorporating industry-leading video quality and streamlined setup all at price points we feel will make the Slingbox an ideal holiday gift. Our mission has and will remain the same -- to create the best possible consumer experience with innovative products that our customers simply love."

Which Slingbox is Right for Me?

With the three new Slingbox models, Sling Media has created a product that fits the needs of every consumer, no matter how basic or sophisticated their home TV setup. -0-

     Slingbox PRO

The Slingbox PRO is designed for the consumer who has multiple
A/V devices or has made an investment in high definition TV. The
Slingbox PRO features four sets of audio-video inputs and
outputs including the optional HD component connection for HD
set-top box customers making for seamless integration into
current A/V systems. Other new features include widescreen
(16:9) support, high quality programmable video compression,
easy connection to set-top boxes (e.g. digital cable, satellite,
DVR) and remote control of A/V devices.

The optional cable for HD component set-top boxes is called the
Slingbox HD Connect and it includes all the necessary cables to
connect HD component video and audio to the Slingbox PRO. This
accessory will be available later this fall. Customers who wish
to seamlessly connect their HD receiver to the Slingbox PRO
using the component connection will need to purchase this
accessory.

Slingbox AV

The Slingbox AV gives consumers who watch TV using a standard
definition cable set-top box, satellite receiver or DVR, the
ability to connect their Slingbox AV seamlessly to their set-top
box. Slingbox AV features the ability to watch and control TV
from any Internet connected PC/Mac/laptop or Windows-based
mobile device, widescreen (16:9) support and high quality
programmable video compression.

Slingbox TUNER

The Slingbox TUNER is ideal for customers with cable who want to
easily view their line-up of television channels and do not
require access to a set-top box, satellite receiver, DVR or
other AV device. The Slingbox TUNER easily connects adjacent to
a cable modem or basic coaxial connection even without a TV
present. This allows the Slingbox TUNER customer to view their
cable channels without impacting another family member watching
TV anywhere else in the home.

New Level of Customer Care

With this product launch, Sling Media is introducing a new customer support capability aimed at providing first-time customers with easy installation. Technology embedded in Sling Media's setup wizard allows "live" chats between customers and Sling Media technical support representatives when the customer is going through the installation process. In addition to this "live" chat support, a Sling Media technical support representative can remotely control a customer's PC (with the customer's explicit permission) to assist in real time with the installation.

"Our focus on simple installation -- including the ability to have live interaction with a technical support representative or allowing the technical support representative to remotely control a customer's PC to make any necessary adjustments -- raises the bar, setting a new standard in the industry that is unmatched today," continued Krikorian. "Sling Media has taken a huge step forward with this product launch demonstrating our commitment to customer support as we continue to make "place-shifting" a household word."

Nationwide Availability

The complete Slingbox family is available in over 3,000 stores nationwide through our retail channel partners which include: Amazon.com, Best Buy, Buy.com, Circuit City, CompUSA, Fry's, J&R Computer World and at SlingMedia.com. Microsoft sets price for Zune, songs

Reuters has reported that Microsoft's new Zune music player will be sold at a price matching Apple's iPod ... the result ... they will LOSE money!

Microsoft's 30-gigabyte Zune will retail for $249.99 -- 99 cents higher than the iPod with the same amount of storage -- when it goes on sale November 14. Songs available for download at the Zune Marketplace service will cost about 99 cents a song, on par with prices at Apple's iTunes, Microsoft said.

The world's largest software maker faces an uphill climb in trying to topple the market-dominating iPod after conceding a five-year head start to Apple's media player.

Microsoft said it needed to put a comparable price on Zune, even if it meant that the company will suffer a loss from the device's sales this holiday season.

LG.Philips LCD Unveils New LCD Panel for Super-Slim Mobile Phones

LG.Philips LCD  announced today that it has developed the world's slimmest TFT-LCD panel, measuring only 1.3mm in thickness including the module, for super-slim mobile phones.

This latest technological breakthrough will enable mobile phone manufacturers to produce mobile phones even slimmer than the 6.9mm thick phones available today. This panel will also make it possible to create slide-up phones that break the 10mm barrier.

This new panel is 32% slimmer than the TFT-LCD panels currently in use for mobile phones, which normally measure between 1.9 and 2.9mm. More importantly, the new product is even slimmer than OLEDs, which are typically between 1.5 and 1.8mm. This refutes the myth that LCDs are thicker than OLEDs.

LG.Philips LCD's Vice President and Head of the Small and Medium Displays Business Unit, Mr. Hyun He Ha, said, "Super-slim LCD panels are one of the most important technologies for mobile phones today, and this latest development reaffirms LG.Philips LCD's global leadership in LCD technology. Our introduction of a super-slim LCD panel measuring just 1.3mm in thickness will further accelerate the shift to slim design phones."

In addition to its ultra-thin LED backlight technology that can raise the brightness of the panel to 400 nits(1) (cd/m(2)), LG.Philips LCD used new ultra-thin light guide plate and glass substrate technologies to further reduce the panel's thickness. Current brightness is between 200 and 300 nits (cd/m(2)). This super-slim LCD panel also uses the company's patent pending structural modification technology to provide greater durability without the need for a stainless steel plate to protect the LCD's components.

LG.Philips LCD plans to unveil its 1.3mm LCD panel for super-slim phones at the opening of SID Mobile Displays 2006, in San Diego, California on October 3rd, 2006.

First Chinese Language Mobile Phones Certified for Use on a US Network

Motorola, Inc. and Red Pocket Mobile today announced the release of the first handsets sold by a U.S. wireless service provider with Chinese-language menus. The world's most popular mobile phone, the MOTORAZR(TM) V3, and the curvaceous, entry-level Motorola C139 both now offer users Chinese language options when purchased through new wireless operator Red Pocket Mobile. Both handsets are certified for use on the nation's largest digital wireless network, an industry first.

"At Motorola, we strive to help enable truly borderless communication," said Kiva Allgood, senior director of North America Sales, Mobile Devices Business, Motorola, Inc. "Teaming up with Red Pocket Mobile on these unique handsets for the Chinese-speaking audience in the United States allows Motorola to connect to a vital and vibrant community that no other handset manufacturer currently recognizes."

Red Pocket Mobile is the first wireless provider in the U.S. to focus exclusively on customers who live in the U.S. but maintain strong ties to Asia. In addition to providing Chinese-language Motorola handsets, Red Pocket Mobile's customer service representatives speak Mandarin and Cantonese dialects of Chinese along with English. Red Pocket also offers an eyebrow-raising calling plan: a phone call to China, Singapore or Taiwan costs exactly the same as a call within the U.S.

"More and more Americans rely on their mobile devices to connect to friends, family and business colleagues overseas," said Joshua Gordon, Chief Operating Officer at Red Pocket Mobile. "As the first wireless provider to focus exclusively on the Asian American community, we're proud to work with Motorola to make Asia a local call away."

Red Pocket Mobile's distinctive Cosmic Blue MOTORAZR V3 features simplified and traditional Chinese handset menus. Red Pocket Mobile's Motorola C139 offers menu options in simplified written Chinese. The Red Pocket Mobile versions of the Motorola phones allow users to operate the phone in a language they are comfortable with while taking advantage of important services such as text messaging(1). Modern written Chinese has two forms: traditional and simplified. Simplified written Chinese prevails in mainland China, while traditional Chinese characters are more common in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and elsewhere. Both Motorola handsets offered by Red Pocket Mobile also have optional English language menus.

First Integrated EV-DO Rev-A Mobile Broadband Notebooks

Sony Electronics will soon be offering the first ultra-portable computers to include integrated broadband-capable wide area network technology, from Sprint for ultra-fast Internet access.

Road warriors with the new VAIO VGN-TXN10 Series notebooks can connect to the Sprint Power Vision Network for wireless, broadband-speed for downloading e-mail and accessing the Internet and large data files. Later this year, Sprint expects to upgrade its network in select markets with EV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) technology so customers will experience broadband upload speeds as well where and when the Rev. A network is deployed.
"Clearly, we are again ahead of the pack in integrating a unique combination of hardware, software and Sprint's Mobile Broadband Service into our PCs for an unparalleled mobile computing experience," said Mike Abary, vice president of VAIO product marketing for Sony Electronics in the United States.

"This VAIO PC is a model example of notebook technology and is another way Sprint is extending the power of our mobile broadband service to customers," said Kathy Walker, chief network officer at Sprint. "Sprint has the nation's largest mobile broadband network and has partnered with a premier computer manufacturer, Sony, to enable mobile professionals to do more in more places."

The TX notebooks make it easy to connect by incorporating Sony's SmartWi technology seamlessly integrating wireless WAN, 802.11 b/g, wireless LAN and Bluetooth technologies. You can easily toggle among your wireless options for the most efficient connection — LAN for home and office; Bluetooth for peripherals; and wireless WAN for access to Sprint Mobile Broadband Service when traveling outside the reach of hotspots.

Sprint wireless broadband network covers more than 157 million people in 216 major metropolitan areas, as well as 486 airports across the nation. Sprint plans to roll out its upgraded technology (EV-DO Revision A) in the months ahead and reach more than 40 million persons in select markets by year end.

In 2007, Sprint will continue its aggressive rollout of faster EV-DO Revision A technology. With this advanced technology, VAIO TX notebook users should expect to benefit from average download speeds of 450 to 800 kbps and upload speeds of 300 to 400 kbps in the markets where EV-DO Revision A network improvements will be rolled out.

FreePulse - Freedom in Experiencing Digital Music

Logitech introduced the Logitech FreePulse Wireless headphones, its stylish second-generation cordless headphones for iPod and MP3 players, which deliver the complete freedom of experiencing digital music with no strings attached.

The FreePulse Wireless headphones are half the weight (only 2.1 ounces/60 grams) and size of Logitech's award-winning first-generation product -- but, they are more flexible and durable, thanks to the high-carbon spring-steel headband. The new version delivers twice the performance as well as enhanced bass with its special bass boost feature. And it offers improved wireless performance with Bluetooth 2.0 Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) wireless technology. People can simply plug in the adapter to any player with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, put their player in their pocket and enjoy their music wirelessly. No more cord tangles, snags or kinks.

"We believe wireless headphones for portable music players will become a standard -- and our slimmed-down, second-generation FreePulse Wireless headphones deliver great leaps in style, comfort, durability, and performance," said Jef Holove, Logitech's vice president of product marketing for audio. "No more untangling knotted earbuds, nor getting snagged on gym equipment. The wireless technology allows people to listen to their music while their iPod or MP3 player is safely tucked away in a pocket, bag or purse."

Durable, Comfortable Design with No-compromise Audio Performance

Featuring a minimalist, behind-the-head design, the streamlined FreePulse Wireless headphones make a great companion for the morning bus- or train-ride to work, a trip to the gym or a jog through the park -- and the smaller size doesn't compromise audio performance. Each circular headphone contains a precision-tuned 30 mm neodymium driver, which pumps out rich, full audio. And when the bass boost feature is activated with a control on the right earpiece, the drivers deliver intensified bass performance.

To make sure the headphones stay in place during active use, flexible soft-touch comfort rings on each earpiece fit securely over the top of the ear. To further ensure comfort, the bendable thin steel headband is embedded within a soft-touch sleeve. The right earpiece also features integrated volume controls so people don't need to touch their player to make volume adjustments.

Premium Wireless Performance

Using the newest version of Logitech's Music Anywhere(TM) technology, the FreePulse Wireless headphones are simple to set up and use -- charge the adapter and headphones with the included charging cable, then plug them in to the digital music player and press play. Logitech's adapter and headphones are paired during manufacturing so that when they are charged and powered on, they automatically connect. They have a wireless range of up to 33 feet (10 meters). The foundation of Music Anywhere technology incorporates Bluetooth wireless technology. By using Bluetooth 2.0 EDR technology, the headphones can stream larger files with greater clarity and less interference.

The headphones and adapter, with the embedded rechargeable batteries, have a play time of more than six hours on a full charge.

Adapter Offers Custom Fit for Wide Range of Players

The FreePulse Wireless headphones work with any audio device that features a standard 3.5 mm headphone port. And with Logitech's new adapter design, the matchbook-size adapter delivers a custom and secure fit for all iPod models and a wide range of other MP3 players. The adapter's 3.5 mm plug is on a slider that be adjusted in four different directions so that the adapter can elegantly attach to a variety of audio devices. And since the headphones feature a standard plug, people can also use them with their PC.

Pricing and Availability

The FreePulse Wireless headphones are expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in October. The suggested retail price in the U.S. is $99.99.

The PodLounge Mobile

The PodLounge announced today the launch of its new mobile phone-compatible podcasting directory, The PodLounge Mobile. For the first time ever, there is a major podcast directory - mobile.thepodlounge.com - that has been built specifically for mobile phone users to find, listen and subscribe to their favourite podcasts or vodcasts anytime, anywhere without the need for a computer.

Mobile phones are fast becoming more than just communication devices; they are now web enabled, and have their own built-in media players amongst other things, and as podcasting grows, it seems only natural to put the two together. The PodLounge Mobile was designed with the Nokia N91 in mind, which is one of the latest mobile jukeboxes in the Nokia Nseries of mobile 3G phones. It has been tailored to fit the tiny screens of any mobile phone that is web enabled, allowing users of The PodLounge and anyone who is into podcasting, easy access to a huge podcast directory of over 31,000 podcasts, wherever they are.

The PodLounge also launched a version - psp.thepodlounge.com for PSP (Portable Sony Playstation) users in June 2006. Designed primarily as a games machine, the Sony PSP is gaining popularity as a portable media device. Simplified access to podcasts through The PodLounge for PSP just gives those who have looked at it as purely a games machine, yet another reason to consider it.

According to John McClumpha, Technical Director of The PodLounge, "One of the most frustrating aspects of using these portable devices to access podcasts or vodcasts is accessing podcast directories that are not designed for small screens. Navigating a directory that's tailored to fit your screen makes it so much easier".

Podcasting, for those unfamiliar with it, is a relatively new technology where 'podcasters' can record audio or video 'episodes' on topics of their choice, and listeners can subscribe and listen to them in their own time. 99% of podcasts are free to subscribe to.

The parent directory, 'The PodLounge' was launched in January 2006. With over 31,000 podcast feeds (more than 500,000 episodes), it is one of the world's largest podcast directories. It is extremely user-friendly and has an extensive range of podcast topics to choose from - music, surfing, comedy, health, politics, religion and more. Whatever your passion, you'll find a podcast for it there.

Microsoft to Unveil Global Advertising Brand Strategy

Joanne Bradford to announce launch of Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions.

At Advertising Week 2006, Microsoft Corp. will announce the worldwide launch of Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions in a move that combines the company’s broad set of global advertising products and services into a unified offering for advertisers. Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions is designed to connect advertisers with their target audiences across such devices as PCs, Xbox video game systems, Web-enabled mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs).

Joanne Bradford, corporate vice president of global sales and marketing and chief media revenue officer at Microsoft, said Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions is a response to one of advertisers’ key challenges. “As today’s consumers spend more and more time online across various digital devices like mobile phones and video games, advertisers are finding they can no longer reach their entire target audience by advertising on a single medium,” she said. “Microsoft is uniquely positioned because of our extensive global audience, high level of consumer engagement, and engaging ad opportunities across Microsoft’s platform to connect advertisers with a million different audiences of one. We’re addressing the reality of media fragmentation and enabling advertisers to get back to what they do best: creating engaging and creative ads.”

Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions offers advertisers the ability to reach more than 465 million consumers each month across the MSN network and millions more through Windows Live, Xbox Live and Office Online. Microsoft’s advertising portfolio extends its reach across some of Microsoft’s latest releases such as Live Search and Live Local Search, through relationships such as those with Facebook, and the acquisition of in-game advertising pioneer Massive Inc.

“Microsoft’s advertising business is growing quickly and becoming more sophisticated,” Bradford said. “It is our responsibility to clearly articulate to advertisers how they can apply our broad set of assets and relationships to reach consumers across the many digital touch points of their day.”

More information about Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions is available at http://advertising.microsoft.com.

Without requiring a mailing list or pre-defined group to be set up in advance, 3jam users can choose who gets the message right when they decide to send it -- whether or not their friends are signed up with 3jam. Although web tools at http://www.3jam.com make it easier to sign up, add friends and start 3jamming, users can do everything they need right from their phones.

Mercora - Music Search and Internet Radio Network

"M," is the first wireless, over-the-air mobile media application for smart phones that gives you the ability to play music wirelessly from a PC --- and all this with pretty good sound quality.

How does it work?  Subscribers can access their music library via their phone from ANY location and enjoy any file that is WMA, MP3 or Ogg Vorbis formatted. No, you can't play your iTunes music because of Apple's proprietary format but you can listen to all your music that was ripped from a CD to an iTunes library.

How much music can you have?  It is only limited by the size of your PC's hard drive and, catch this, the size of up to 5 friends hard drives.  Yeah, you can log on to the music libraries of up to five friends ... anywhere in the world!  This sounds very cool!

Check it out here ... this might be the service you've been looking for.

    Sony to REDUCE PS3 prices

Ah, competition ... it's a terrific thing!  With all the entries into the game station market and the pressure from pricing, Sony will reduce their price structure by 17% for its Japanese release of the PS3 console scheduled for early November.

With the 20 GB slated to be priced in Japan at $429, an $85 decrease, it is not know what the US pricing will be.  However, it is anticipated that similar price cuts will follow.

Now we can only hope that they will see the light and drop the prices of the higher end units....
