Sprint is GEARING UP!

Unstrung.com is reporting that Sprint Nextel Corp.  is "gearing up" to launch its first dualmode CDMA/iDEN cellphones. Enterprise users that have relied upon the reliability and range of the walkie-talkie-like push-to-talk feature will find this to be a welcome addition to the Sprint network.

It is rumored that a device will be available very soon. For those of you that are not familiar with iDEN, iDEN is a TDMA trunked radio system which is used for mobile telephony. Using Motorola's VSELP (Vector Sum Excited Linear Prediction) system for voice compression, it allows 6 voice conversations into one 25Khz channel....pretty cool stuff.
