Joopz - two way communications to any mobile phone for FREE

MobileSphere announced Joopz, a new web-based text messaging service that enables "web texting" -- two-way communications from the Web to any mobile phone for free.

The new service allows users to send and receive messages to individuals and groups, while enabling recipients to respond directly to the originating PC, Mac, PDA or mobile phone and to group member mobile phones. Joopz web texts can be sent from any web-enabled device worldwide to any U.S. or Canadian mobile phone. Joopz also features text reminders, scheduled message delivery, message forwarding and additional value-added services.

"With more than 60 billion text messages sent worldwide per month, the market for text messaging is one of the fastest growing sectors of the communications industry," commented Gavin Macomber, MobileSphere's executive vice president of marketing. "We are very excited to introduce the concept of 'web texting' to consumers everywhere. By enabling two-way text messaging from a PC, Mac or other web-enabled device, Joopz delivers cutting-edge technology that will allow consumers to communicate easier, faster and more cost effectively."

Joopz web texting offers the following features:

  • Two-Way "Web Texting" -- Joopz lets users send and receive text messages (SMS) from the Web to any mobile phone for free. A real-time history of all conversations is included.
  • Group Chat -- With the Joopz Group Chat feature, users can have conversations via text with all their friends at once.
  • Text Reminders -- Don't forget the party! Joopz helps users manage their lives by tracking what they need to do and when, and then sending a text reminder.
  • Scheduled Texting -- A birthday, an anniversary, a graduation -- send delayed text messages for the recipient to receive at a specific time -- a day from now, a week from now, a year from now.
  • "Communication services should be adaptable across multiple types of devices and messaging channels to flexibly support the work and lifestyle needs of users," said Mike Gotta, Principal Analyst at Burton Group.

"Web-based text messaging may well become a convenient alternative for consumers, as well as enterprise workers, to expedite sharing of information, and coordination of group activities."
