WebMessenger Launches Enterprise Instant Messaging for Windows Mobile 5.0 PDAs

WebMessenger, provider of mobile instant-messaging products for enterprises and consumers, announced the launch of Mobile Instant Messenger for Windows 5.0, available as a standalone wireless application for consumers and business professionals as well as for enterprises via the WebMessenger Mobile Platform.

WebMessenger's Mobile Instant Messenger for Windows Mobile 5.0 is a wireless IM application designed to work on all Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC devices and phones such as the Cingular 8125, Treo 700W, T-Mobile MDA and HP iPAQ. The application allows business professionals to securely correspond via IM or chat over all major public networks, including AOL, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, MSN and Yahoo.

Mobile Instant Messenger for Windows 5.0 provides multi-network access in a single client, enabling users to simultaneously chat with buddies on different networks. The application runs simultaneously with the phone and email applications. In addition, users are able to send and receive extended presence awareness information (online, busy, away and not available) as well as recognize the device of origin (desktop or mobile).

WebMessenger's enterprise version of Mobile Instant Messenger for Windows 5.0 includes all of the above features and offers added interoperability with IBM Lotus Sametime, Jabber XCP, Microsoft Exchange IM, Microsoft LCS and Reuters Messaging.

On the surface I tend to agree Jerry but it appears as if it offers more functionality and security than the standard IM folks use. The advantages might well outwiegh the cost for those in the Enterprise.
