Project Gutenberg - World eBook Fair

A daily stop for me is a visit to Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine's website where I always find items of interest. Jim Karpen's Web Guide is a weekly visit and this week I was reminded about a site that I used to frequent quite often.

Jim spent some time this week passing on some info on Project Gutenberg, which if you have never visited , you should. It is a terrific site to get started on your collection of ebooks. BTW, Project Gutenberg is the oldest producer of free ebooks on the Internet.

In part, Jim had the following to say:
World eBook Fair

To mark the 35th anniversary of Project Gutenberg, which has the goal of creating a free worldwide library, World eBook Fair is offering free access until August 4, with the usual price being $9 per year. The site has links to over 100 collections of eBooks and audio books.

And while the hype sounds impressive — 333,000 eBooks — from what I can tell, most of this content is already available online for free. Still, it’s useful to have this excellent list of links. Included are two sites with audio books in MP3 format (mostly classic literature), and Baen’s collection of over 70 free science fiction and fantasy titles.

Checkout what Jim had to say and take some time to visit Project Gutenberg and the World eBook Fair.
