ABBYY Mobile OCR SDK

ABBYY Mobile OCR SDK, a software development toolkit (SDK) for integrating optical character recognition (OCR) and business card reading functions into mobile platforms and applications.

ABBYY Mobile OCR SDK is an OS-independent, small code-size OCR development toolkit specially designed for creating OCR solutions running on mobile devices or in "instant OCR" applications. It can be integrated into any mobile application or platform including Windows Mobile, Symbian, and LINUX, as well as into PC utilities.

Using ABBYY Mobile OCR SDK, hardware, software, telecom service, and mobile application providers can add powerful new functionality to their products. ABBYY OCR technology transforms images into manageable text which can be saved or stored, edited, or sent via email or SMS. Applications based on the Mobile OCR SDK will transform notes, business cards, newspaper clippings, menus, and other texts captured via a mobile imaging device into useful data.

Compact Code OCR for Mobile DevicesABBYY Mobile OCR SDK can be applied in a variety of applications including:

Camera Phones. Today's phones make it easy to capture information from documents while on the move. With OCR on a mobile phone, photos of business cards can be converted in to text for direct storage into phone books. Clippings from magazines or other documents can be converted and sent via email or SMS.

Personal Digital Assistants (PDA's) or Smartphones with Digital Cameras. ABBYY OCR on a handheld device can be used to capture and process a variety of useful text which can then be "synched" or downloaded to a PC. Users can convert text for easy input into calendars, task lists, or phone books. Images received via email or downloaded from the Internet can now be instantly converted to text directly on the device.

Pen, Portable, and Compact Scanners. OCR can be embedded in a compact business card scanner, small handheld scanner, or pen type scanner for the creation of "all-in-one" hardware/software combination solutions for business card reading or special vertical market applications.

Digital Cameras. The Mobile OCR SDK code can support a variety of digital cameras - not just those included on mobile telephones - enabling capture and conversion of texts while travelling or out of the office.

"Instant OCR" for PC Utilities. With a small footprint, the Mobile OCR SDK is also ideal for creating small utilities requiring high operating speed and minimum memory resources. The SDK can be used for "Instant OCR" applications in which a "point and click" or "pop-up" window dialogue facilitates processing of an image from a Web site, PDF file, or other application. Converted text can be used for desktop search engines, pop-up dictionaries, pop-up training utilities, and anti- spam applications.

Key Benefits

High Accuracy
Based on award-winning FineReader technology, the Mobile OCR SDK ensures the best possible recognition accuracy with multilingual capabilities.

Small Footprint
With a small code-size , Mobile OCR SDK is optimized to run on with low memory resources . Depending on set of functions it may require from 1,5 to 5Mb of RAM and from 2 to 20Mb of ROM.

Immediate OCR Results
Mobile OCR SDK is extremely efficient in loading and operating and can return immediate OCR results.

Hey Jack! I lost your email. :-( Can you get me seats for the RedSox on July 13th against Oakland?

I will be in Boston for the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference speaking on Mobility that week so maybe I can see you there? It was nice talking with you at TechEd 2006 last week!
