Avvenu Remote Access Service Included With New Palm Treo 700p Smartphone

Free Service Ships With New Palm Treo 700p Smartphone to Let Mobile Users Conveniently Access Their Office and Home Computers Directly from Their New Palm Smartphone

Avvenu, Inc. today announced that its unique remote access service is conveniently included with Palm, Inc.'s new Palm Treo 700p smartphone. The Treo 700p smartphone is Palm's first Palm OS based Treo smartphone on EvDO. Optimized for Palm devices, Avvenu gives Palm customers fast access to their documents, folders and photos directly from their Treo 700p smartphone. Users can securely access important files anytime and anywhere they have wireless access(1) by easily linking to any of their computers. In addition to accessing their own content, users of certain wirelessly enabled Palm products can quickly and securely share access to their content with colleagues, friends and family.

"The Avvenu service is an extraordinarily useful addition to the Treo 700p smartphone experience, providing seamless connectivity to content on the user's office or home computer," said Mark Bercow, senior vice president, business development, Palm, Inc. "Avvenu can transform a Palm Treo 700p smartphone into a portal that can access the user's files -- anywhere in the world they have a wireless connection."

Avvenu's powerful remote access features let users view, download and edit files and photos. Every important document is available directly from the user's computer. The Avvenu service also allows users to share files, photos or folders with co-workers. The content being shared doesn't have to be downloaded to the Palm device or uploaded to a centralized server -- all sharing is directly off of the host computer. There are no file size limits, so users can use their Treo 700p smartphone to quickly share hundreds of megabytes of data.

"Since the Avvenu service is such a handy companion for the Treo 700p smartphone, it's only natural that it would be included with the device," said Richard French, Avvenu CEO. "The Treo 700p smartphone's ability to access data via high-speed wireless networks, combined with Avvenu's ability to securely connect users to their files and folders, makes the Treo 700p a truly outstanding mobile computing platform."

Users enjoy the security of knowing they have safe, password-protected access to their files and folders when using Avvenu. All data transfers are encrypted and transmitted using 128-bit SSL, the web standard for secure transactions. Avvenu also intelligently manages the connection to match the device being used. Avvenu's smart viewing feature scales large files, such as photos, to the right size for fast viewing on mobile devices. Avvenu also lets users search their desktop computer from any web-enabled mobile device using Google Desktop Search.

As the first Palm OS based Treo smartphone on EvDO, the Palm Treo 700p smartphone uses its fast data connection to speed email, messaging, large attachment downloads and web browsing.(1) The speed also allows for streaming multimedia content, and the Treo 700p smartphone ships with Palm's first built-in streaming application. Treo 700p users also can take advantage of broadband-like EvDO speeds on their laptop computers by using the new smartphone as a wireless modem via USB or Bluetooth(R) wireless technology. By using SD memory cards, currently available with 2GB of storage (sold separately), in addition to the 128MB of built-in memory (60MB dedicated user storage), users have plenty of room to download and carry important documents and multimedia content. More information about the Palm Treo 700p smartphone can be found at http://www.palm.com/Treo700p.

In addition to the Treo 700p smartphone, Avvenu also supports the Treo 700w and Treo 650 smartphones, the LifeDrive(TM) mobile manager, and the Palm TX handheld with affordable Wi-Fi connectivity. The Avvenu service is free for users of Palm products and may be downloaded directly from the Palm website at http://www.palm.com/avvenu.
