Designed for how you use your device
Each time I get a device, I try to get a case that will protect my investment and will allow me to use my device the way I want. When I got my JasJar, I tried to get a case that would allow me to use my device in two modes of operation – cover open and cover closed.
For those of you that are not necessarily familiar with the JasJar, it has a unique design allowing you to have it open (like a laptop), have the screen visible (like most PDAs), or have the screen rotated to a closed position for safety of the device. I liked it; it was a clever design allowing use of a device the way you wanted to use it. However, finding the right case was a job, that is until I went to the GPScheap website and saw the extraordinary collection of Covertec cases they had displayed (They may well have a case for every device made).
What I saw was a case that would allow me to enjoy all of the JasJar features by using a very innovative design. That’s right, this case provided me with easy access to all of the phone functions such as the call on/off buttons, a caller ID window, and of course the speakers. Once you open the case, you can use the keyboard, all the keys of your handheld as well as every feature that is available. And YES, the camera is not a forgotten entity. There are two cutouts in the back panel for the flash and camera lens.
I like it…I have a choice on how I want my JasJar to perform. I can have it open with the touch pad exposed or I can choose to have it closed up like a clam shell. Either way, my device is protected and at the same time easily accessible. They did a nice job in the design!
So what does it look like? I ordered a black case (I thought black would go well with the steel grey color of the JasJar). The front of the case has two openings: a small hole cut for access to the speaker and a window with a tough clear plastic covering it that allows you to see upcoming appointments when reminders appear or if the phone rings, the caller information. Wrapped aroung the front is the strap that holds the case together using the magnetic clip that Covertec has become famous for.
The left side has two cutouts allowing access for the phone on/off, earphone input and reset hole. The back has two cutouts for the camera and a recessed hole that accepts a round “fixation” wheel that screws onto the back of the case and would “snap” into the Covertec “Wips" Belt Clip. I was impressed that they provided the screw driver to attach the fixation wheel….it is a cool “extra”. With the belt clip attached, there is a full 360 degree rotation.
The leather exterior is made of high quality, full grain cowskin nappa leather with a beige overstitching providing strength to the exterior edges as well as a nice accent in its design. The interior of the case looks and feels fine but it is made from a heavy duty synthetic material. It is nice but I would have preferred a nice soft leather.
Covertec has designed and produced a case that has provided me with protection and easy access to every function of my JasJar. I am confident that this is true for each case they make….and judging from the 18 pages of Covertec cases on GPS Cheap, they make a lot of cases! In addition, they offer a lifetime warranty on ALL their cases. I like that!!
