As I was browsing through the web today, I ran across this very cool, very unique technology that takes large collections of photos of a place or object, analyzes them for similarities, and displays them in a reconstructed 3-dimensional space. So what is Photosynth? Photosynth is an amazing new technology from Microsoft Live Labs that will change the way you think about digital photos forever.
Collecting a series of photos taken by you or others of similar areas, Photosynth will apply a series of complicated algorithms and will extract distinctive features, like like a clock, or a piece of a building. Then, photos that share similar features are all linked together allowing a 3D position to be calculated.
