Apple Computer Inc. has a new deal with three major automakers to incorporate iPod connections in many of their models so drivers can listen and control their iPods through their car stereos. My guess is that the iPod connections will have an added cost factor when you purchase a vehicle. The question is whether or not it will be worth the added cost.
Michele Gershberg wrote a short article (Apple to connect iPod in cars) that you can read here at Yahoo news.

Auto Manufacturers have been very slow to adapt this technology. It has been mostly aftermarket until now.
From an advertising standpoint, radio stations hate this. In fact they downplay it considerably with data that shows a very low percentage of people playing MP3 players in their cars. I don't buy it - I think this is what the consumer wants and the auto manufacturers want to sell cars.
