Pulse Mobile and KDDI Launch NEW Avatar Messaging Service

Taking a simple concept with huge consumer appeal, Pulse Mobile has landed a major deal with Japan's KDDI Corporation that should start tongues wagging — literally.

Pulse Mobile, the leading provider of user-generated mobile content services, offers solutions which enable users to instantly convert head shots into animated talking graphics. KDDI Corporation is the leading youth brand for mobile communications in Japan with over 24 million mobile subscribers. The two partners today announced the availability of "E Shaberi Mail" or "Talking Picture Mail," a unique and highly personalized messaging service.

Utilizing the Pulse Mobile hosted Veepers Content Engine (VCE) KDDI Corporation will provide an embedded multi-media messaging authoring application on new wireless handsets to increase subscriber loyalty in advance of number portability in Japan later this fall.

The KDDI-branded Veepers Messaging service allows any end-user the means to easily create custom interactive virtual personalities, or Veepers, on their mobile phone from a gallery of static images. The "E Shaberi Mail" service also allows a user to record their voice to drive the personalized animation. The resulting media file can be forwarded to other users, or assigned as a video ringtone on the subscriber's own wireless device.

Scheduled for deployment in October of this year, the service will also offer a gallery of premium content for users to purchase for use in their custom animated messages. Pulse Mobile is planning to partner with leading Japanese content providers to create a range of attractive media offerings that will be focused around event driven promotions such as Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day.
