Palm Treo 700wx review by PC Magazine

Sascha Segan  posted a review of the Palm Treo 700wx on the PC magazine web site.

In part, Sascha said:

Palm's new Treo 700wx is the most phone-friendly Pocket PC device I've seen. But although it addresses one of the major flaws of the previous Treo 700w—its limited memory—the 700wx is by no means the leader among e-mail or multimedia handhelds.

Except for the Sprint logo, the Treo 700wx looks exactly like Verizon Wireless's Treo 700w. Like its predecessor, the handset uses a disappointingly dull 2.5-inch, 240-by-240 screen. In fact, the Treo's screen is among the lowest-resolution smartphones in the industry right now, and that hurts its performance, especially when browsing the Web and using e-mail.

As most of you know, I reviewed the Palm 700P and was incredibly impressed with the form factor of the device, enough for me to try out the 700W.  Memory has been an issue although not a deal breaker as long as you are aware of limitations.  I have found that it has worked incredibly well.  If there was more memory available it would be an almost perfect device in my opinion.

While testing the Sprint 700P, I was thrilled with the phone reception but somewhat disappointed in the web access because it was non-existant if you had no access to the Sprint towers.  That has not been the case with the Verizon service.  I have been able to connect to the web virtually everywhere I go and yet the phone service has been less than desirable.  A Sprint/Verizon combination would produce perfect results...dream on I guess!

I hope I get the opportunity to check out the 700WX....it could be a dynamite device!
